Brigadier General Chris Rofrano received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University in New York, a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, a Master of Laws degree in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General’s School with a specialty in Federal Administrative and Civil Law and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes the Command and General Staff Officer Course, Combined Armed Services Staff School, and the Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course. Brigadier General Rofrano is currently the Chief Counsel of the National Guard Bureau and a member of the Utah National Guard. He serves as the Chief Legal Advisor to the Chief, National Guard Bureau (CNGB); Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau; and the Directors of the Army and Air National Guard. He also serves as their representative to officials throughout the Executive and Legislative branches of the Federal government including the Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Department of the Air Force, and the Judge Advocates General of the Services.
Previous assignments with the National Guard Bureau include Administrative Law Attorney, Litigation Attorney, Contracts and Fiscal Law Attorney, Executive Officer, and Associate Chief Counsel. Prior to entering Active Duty in 2001, Brigadier General Rofrano served as a traditional Trial Counsel in the New York National Guard. In his civilian capacity, he served as a prosecutor, senior trial attorney and the managing attorney for a Fortune 500 corporation. He has specialized experience in medical malpractice litigation and complex civil defense matters.
His federal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal. He is also entitled to wear the Army Staff Identification Badge. Brigadier General Rofrano is married with two daughters.
